What elements are added to the corrosion resistance of medical stainless steel

Medical stainless steel is generally made of 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel. Its corrosion resistance depends on chromium, but because chromium is one of the components of stainless steel pipes, the protection methods of stainless steel pipes are different.

When the amount of chromium added reaches 10.5%, the atmospheric corrosion resistance of medical stainless steel increases significantly, but when the chromium content is higher, although the corrosion resistance can still be improved, it is not obvious. The reason is that alloying steel with chromium changes the type of surface oxide to a surface oxide similar to that formed on pure chromium metal. This tightly adhered chromium-rich oxide protects the surface from further oxidation. This oxide layer is extremely thin, and the natural luster of the stainless steel surface can be seen through it, making the medical stainless steel have a unique surface. Moreover, if the surface is damaged, the exposed surface of the stainless steel pipe will react with the atmosphere to repair itself, and re-form this oxide “passive film” to continue to play a protective role.

The 201/304/316 stainless steel pipe produced by Shaanxi Jinyou metal, the stainless steel pipe contains 8 nickel and 18 chromium, which can meet the quality requirements of medical stainless steel. Friends in need, welcome to inquire and purchase!
