Processing is an important link that affects the quality of color-coated plates. In order to ensure product quality, some precautions during processing are given below for reference.
Because color-coated plates have coatings on their surfaces, there are many differences between them and ordinary cold-rolled plates and coated plates during processing. The most important difference is that the forming process must be carried out under the premise of ensuring that the coating is intact. The precautions during processing are as follows:
1. Mechanical properties are an important indicator for measuring formability and an important parameter for determining and adjusting the processing technology. Therefore, they should be considered first during processing.
2. Indicators such as pencil hardness, T-bend, and impact energy are closely related to processing performance, so they should be fully considered.
3. When the shape of the parts is complex and the degree of deformation is large, multi-pass forming should be adopted. If formed in one time, the bonding force between the coating and the substrate may be destroyed due to excessive deformation.
4. During processing, the appropriate gap should be set according to factors such as mold shape, deformation characteristics, and process conditions. The thickness of the coating should be considered when setting the gap.
5. Most coatings can be used as solid lubricants and can meet the lubrication requirements of most forming processes. Some coatings can improve the lubricity of the coating by adjusting the formula. If the lubricity of the coating is insufficient, the lubricity can be improved by applying oil, wax, or peelable protective film. However, it should be noted that wet lubricants are easy to absorb dirt and should be removed before installation. The peelable protective film should also be removed as soon as possible after the construction is completed.
6. A reasonable processing speed should be set according to factors such as equipment conditions, process conditions, and part shape. Too high a deformation speed can easily cause the coating to peel off. The flexibility of the coating decreases at low temperatures, so low-temperature processing should be avoided. If the ambient temperature is low, the material should be heated to a certain temperature before processing.
7. The cut section produced during processing is prone to corrosion, so necessary protective measures should be taken, such as applying protective coatings and embedding seals.
8. During processing, the burrs on the cut surface should be minimized to prevent the burrs from scratching the surface.
9. All surfaces in contact with the coating should be kept clean and tidy, and the chips and metal particles generated during processing should be cleaned in time to prevent foreign matter from damaging the coating surface.
10. During processing, the wear of the forming roller surface or the mold surface should be minimized, the contact surface should be kept smooth, and defects such as indentations and scratches on the coating surface should be prevented.
11. The construction method of pre-assembly in the factory and then sent to the site for installation should be adopted as much as possible. Protective measures should be taken during installation to prevent damage to the coating.
12. If the coating surface is damaged during processing, it should be repaired in time with special repair paint to prevent corrosion at the damaged area.
