Material selection & manufacturing and inspection of stainless steel welded pipe production process

2023-11-17 14:08:47

1. Stainless steel welded pipe material selection
Stainless steel welded pipes must pass non-destructive testing, and the welding joints need to be inspected and the welding joints are required to be smooth. Select the material according to the corrosiveness of the flowing liquid or gas, select the pipe diameter according to the flow rate, and select the wall thickness according to the wall pressure requirements. The sealing materials of all valves, pipes and manholes must be qualified.

2. Stainless steel welded pipe manufacturing
The upper and lower heads are molded or spun. When assembled with the cylinder, they are mainly docked. All interface parts are mechanically flanged to ensure a sophisticated transition. All welds must not be lower than the base metal. Ideally, they should be flush with the base metal. If they are higher than the base metal, the parts above the base metal must be sophisticated and must not have pits or pits. When docking and welding, ensure that the inner walls of the pipes are connected without gaps. During welding, the stainless steel welded pipes must be fully protected by argon gas, and the purity of the argon gas must reach more than 99%; all welds must not have pores, slag inclusions, or unevenness. Stainless steel After welding the welded pipe, the weld should be polished until it is smooth and bright. All pipes and interfaces must be machined with grooves during manufacturing. The workplace strictly implements the separation of stainless steel from iron, copper and other materials to ensure that materials are not contaminated by iron, copper and other materials.

3. Stainless steel welded pipe inspection
The manufactured stainless steel welded pipes must first undergo a welding appearance inspection. The surface of the welded joints must be clean and free of cracks, pores, arc craters and spatter. The joints must not undercut; key welds and parts must be carefully controlled, and the lower seal must be inspected. All welds of the head and the girth weld between the lower cylinder and the lower head must be 100% penetrant tested and meet the Level I qualification in JB/T4730.5 “Nondestructive Testing of Pressure Equipment”.
